March | A Progress Report

So I blinked and it's March. I'm not sure how that happened. One day I'm all "hey guys, it's January, let's start this year off right, look at my to-do list," and now it's more like "hey y'all, it's March already and all I've done is watch the entire season of Fuller House." (okay, not really - I watched two episodes. But still. You get my point. Have mercy!

So while it's incredibly obvious where I haven't exactly been hitting my goals - COUGHbloggingCOUGH - here's a quick progress report on what I have been doing, and where I want to go from here.

MAKE HEALTH A PRIORITY
In January I joined in on a group Whole 30 organized by one of my favorite people and the amazing writer behind Desperately Seeking Superwoman. Even though this wasn't my first rodeo, it was still really, really hard to complete. I even cheated a few times, which is so unlike me. Usually I'm a type-A perfectionist when it comes to food or health challenges like this. But I made it through, and it paid off as I felt better, lost some weight and helped reset my body after a few months of not eating so well. Next steps are to continue to eat Whole 30, or close to it, during the week (I'm already having a hard time with this) and to get my workout regimen in check. We're 3 months away from a beach vacation, it's time to get real serious about our fitness up in here.

BUILD MY FREELANCE CAREER
In February I cut back my hours at my J-O-B from 30 to just 15, and I now only go into the office two days a week. This gives me more time to freelance from home, yet allows me to have a bit of a "safety net" in that I have guaranteed work each month. I'm still adjusting to the new schedule, but overall I'm already so much happier. I'm incredibly lucky that I have a good amount of freelance available to me from a company that I already had a relationship with so I don't necessarily have to worry about how I'm going to pay my bills. However, I am trying to find the time to build out my portfolio and solicit new work, as I'd love to work with other creative professionals, new brands, and small companies, especially those looking for e-commerce sites. So yes, I am so happy that I have plenty of work, but now my challenge is finding the time to make room for new work as well.

LEARN A NEW SKILL
Last month we bought Rosetta Stone so we can finally learn spanish. We haven't started using yet, but I can't wait to get into it. I loooove the idea of being fluent a second language (and maybe even a third one day?!).

NEXT STEPS ...
Besides continuing to work on my to-dos for 2016, one thing I'd like to focus on this month is becoming a morning person. I am 100% a hardcore night owl, so I don't even know if this is possible. However, I am grasping at straws for ideas on finding 30 hours in a 24 hour day. This is my last resort, people. I don't have high hopes, but I'm willing to try. I'll let you know how it goes.

So that's about it, folks. I know this isn't the most exciting post but it helps keep me accountable. Also, how cute is that calendar image? It was a free download from Shay Cochrane, whose amazing photography brand I just discovered and who also happens to live in Tampa. How cool is that?!
